For the second time, President Obama has “dissed” the city of Las Vegas. However, Mayor Oscar Goodman has had enough of Obama’s irresponisble rhetoric and hypocrisy and blasted the President over his statements.
In an ironic attempt to lecture the American people on fiscal responsibility, President Obama stated “When times are tough, you tighten your belts. You don’t go buying a boat when you’re trying to pay your mortgage. You don’t blow a bunch of cash on Vegas when you’re trying to save on college. You prioritize, you make tough choices.”
First of all, how many people do you know blew their kid’s education fund in Vegas? Is that the new societal norm? Did I miss that memo? Did I miss the memo where Americans aren’t allowed to travel, enjoy vacations, and support the economies of our cities?
This is all stirred up because of his statements last year, “You are not going to be able to give out these big bonuses until you pay taxpayers back. You can’t get corporate jets. You can’t go take a trip to Las Vegas or go down to the Super Bowl on the taxpayers’ dime.”
That’s funny, Mr. President, because you didn’t mind a $10,000 date night on the tax payer’s dime last winter. But I digress.
Mayor Goodman has stepped up though in defense of the city he runs, putting the President in his place more so than anyone that I have heard to date.
“The assumption that all meetings, events, and incentive travel (to Las Vegas) are wasteful is wrong,” Goodman wrote. “Now more than ever, we need businesses to travel and hold meetings and events.”
On Tuesday, Mayor Goodman blasted Obama with this:
“I guess you’ve all seen the president’s remarks or read about the president’s remarks, well I’ve got some remarks of my own. I was back in Washington, D.C. about two weeks ago, going up and down the halls of the capitol telling people about our economy here, trying to get them to be sympathetic to what we’re trying to accomplish, then I have to read what President Obama said.
“He has a real psychological hang up about the entertainment capitol of the world. An apology won’t be acceptable this time, I don’t know where his vendetta comes from but we’re not going to let him make his bones by lambasting Las Vegas, that’s why (the press) is here today.
“He didn’t learn his lesson the first time, but when he hurt our economy by his ill conceived rhetoric, we didn’t think it would happen again, but now that it has I want to assure you, when he comes I’ll do everything I can to give him the boot back to Washington and to visit his failures back there.
“I gotta tell you this, everybody says I shouldn’t say it, but I gotta tell you the way it is. This president is a real slow learner.”
Mayor Goodman, slow is not even the word, but it’ll do for now! Thank you for standing up for your city and state.
And for anyone who criticizes the Mayor for “disrespecting the President,” think long and hard about Harry Reid calling Bush a liar and REFUSING to retrack the statement or apologize. And called Bush a “loser.”
Hi Sweetie: I too wrote about this in the Las Vegas Review. Ob ama hates, hates free enteprise choices. Oh he loves when the Feds mandate choices that he agrees with but boy howdy, don’t give the voters other choices. Drop by my latest at FinalRac sweetie. Blessings, Glenn rackoons

Harry “the white flag of surrender” Reid and many other prominent Dems called Bush a liar, loser and much worse, with nothing but their liberal opinions to back it up. Believe me, as much BDS as many of them had, if they could have proven anything, they sure would have.
In Obama’s case, however, for an allegedly “brilliant” individual, he sure keeps acting like an arrogant amateur, a naive narcissist, a double-down dummy and more than just a slow learner. He acts instead like a stubborn and stupid ideologue, so any criticism of him for such actions is not disrespect — it’s valid criticism.
I cannot remember another president — ever — who has “gone after” individuals, particular media outlets, selected places or anyone who he thinks is against him or who he simply wants to use as a bad example of something as much as this thin-skinned, petty, petulant and pernicious president. He really is WORSE than just a liar and a loser — he’s a poseur.

Well like Quinn said on Quinn and Rose yesterday morning. Obama isn’t a slow learner, he’s a no-learner.
